AUDITION MATERIALS

JIM HOPPER AUDITION SIDE:

Kids are annoying. Loud, stubborn, relentless. But that same stubbornness? It means they don’t give up. Not on each other. Not on Will. Turns out this whole thing is bigger than Hawk could ever be. Bigger than missing posters and late-night searches. The government’s been hiding something—a secret world they call the Upside Down. I broke into the lab and found a wall. Except it wasn’t a wall anymore. It looked like stretched skin over a doorway—thin, pulsing, veined. It shimmered, breathed even. The air around it was freezing. I touched it. Yeah, dumb move. It wasn’t solid or liquid—something in between. Warm under the cold. And when I pushed through… it wasn’t a room on the other side. It was this town. But dead. Rotting. Twisted. And I heard them. Kids. I couldn’t see them, but I heard them asking for help. That’s when I pulled back—ripped my arm out so fast I tore my knuckles open. The wall snapped shut like nothing happened. But I knew. It wasn’t just some experiment gone wrong. It was a doorway. And doors work both ways. Will was in there. And I had to get him out.

“When I was young, I never needed anyone and making friends was just for fun. Those days are gone, Livin' alone, I think of all the friends I've known.  But when I dial the telephone, nobody's home. All by myself.  Don't wanna be, all by myself, anymore. All by myself, don’t wanna live. All by myself, anymore.”

MIKE WHEELER:
When I got home from school, I saw this creepy old guy talking to my mom. I didn’t know him and neither did she. But Eleven does. When I went downstairs to check on her, all she kept saying was “bad”. I found out that the creeps' name is Dr. Brennar. He’s an evil freak who experiments on kids' minds who he thinks are special. It just so happened that one of those kids is Eleven. She was able to escape his scientific prison but now they’re after her and they’re going to hurt her again if he gets her back. And that’s not even the strangest part. I think she knows what happened to Will. She has superpowers. She can read minds, manipulate objects, and every time she does, her nose drips blood but in our case, it’s just ketchup because that’s on homemade special effects. She showed me her powers and I got freaked out by them, and by the fact that I was still talking to a girl, so I got mad at her and called her a freak. She ran away and now I’m scared. What if what happened to Will happens to her? I can’t lose anyone else.
